Loving What We do

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

Employee Engagement

by Shane Stevens, CEO

You often hear the term ‘employee engagement’ but do we really know what it means? Employee engagement is a fundamental concept in the effort to understand and describe the nature of the relationship between an organization and its employees.

An "engaged employee" is defined as one who is fully absorbed by and enthusiastic about their work and so takes positive action to further the organization's reputation and interests. An engaged employee has a positive attitude towards the organization and its values. In contrast, a disengaged employee may range from someone doing the bare minimum at work (aka 'coasting'), up to an employee who is actively damaging the company's work output and reputation.

An organization with "high" employee engagement might, therefore, be expected to outperform those with "low" employee engagement. I have had the opportunity to observe the team and I can honestly say, we have a great group of ENGAGED EMPLOYEES! The collaboration, teamwork, and passion that I see speaks volumes.

It is truly a pleasure to work with so many talented professionals.

Thankful for our people

by Sean A. Ryan, Brigadier General (Ret), VP Military Division

The Dental Health Management Solutions Military Division would like to thank both our internal employees and our 1099 professional providers for completing a very successful busy season.

While we are not completely through the busy season, we have crested the mountain top and are heading down the slope. As the Vice President of the Military Division, I would like to give a personal thank you for supporting our Nation’s Military and providing services so they may continue to support and protect our Nations values.

Over the fourth quarter, October 2019 – December 2019, collectively we conducted 275 events and provided services to 31,193 thousand military personnel. This is an amazing accomplishment given the fact that this is all completed by quickly setting up a complete dental office in just a few hours, conducting one or two days of services, and then packing up. Many of these events are completed in very remote areas such as Alaska, Puerto Rico, Saipan and Guam.

I would like to welcome the following personnel to the DHMS team; Nekale Joiner (Compliance and Resource Coordinator), Olivia Hughes (Credentialing and Staffing Coordinator), Wendy Norris (Quality Assurance Coordinator) and Doug Caceres (Warehouse PANO Technician).

All these positions are an integral part of our delivery and support model, and we are very excited to have them supporting the Military Division. DHMS is very proud of the entire team in providing “Conventional Care in Unconventional Settings” to our Nations Uniformed Services members.

Helping the VA and Air Marshals

by Debbie Woods, AnyPlace AUD VP of Business Development

What do Military Veterans and Federal Air Marshals have in common for AnyPlace Audiology and Hearing Aids? We are helping them both hear better in the Q1 of 2020! APAuD has set up new offices in Q4 2019 in Corpus Christi and Lufkin Texas to serve the backlog of Veterans to be seen through the VA. The Mission ACT, signed by President Trump in 2019 states that if a Veteran needs to wait over 28 days or has more than a 30-minute commute to the VA, they may be seen by a Community Care Network Provider close to their residents. We have served over 200 Veterans thus far and restored their hearing health in most cases! Dr. Krista Reyes travels from Houston to Corpus one week and then to Lufkin the following week. In 2020, Debbie Woods, Vice President of Business Development has committed to opening 20 offices to serve our Veterans throughout Texas. Some locations will be brand new and purchasing a few practices will take place. “It is going to be a VERY busy growth year for our Company, but we are ready and willing to put in the long hours to help our Veterans that have kept our country safe,” Woods stated. In March Woods announced that APAuD. will be seeing the Federal Air Marshals in Dallas and in Houston. A survey came through of 422 Federal Air Marshals that every one of the responses claimed hearing loss. APAuD. We will be utilizing 3D printing to fit them with safety earplug protection. Dr. Rachel Spinuzza has joined the team the first of this year along with Michelle Coll will start PRN serving our Veterans in Del Rio.
