Dental Health Management Solutions was founded to provide dental services and care for communities with the greatest need, but the lowest access to it. So when presented with an opportunity to do exactly that, we of course accepted ecstatically.
For the second year in a row, we partnered with a San Antonio nonprofit to provide free dental checkups and treatment for refugees living in the San Antonio area. Many of these individuals have not seen a dentist in years, if ever. This will be the second year that Dental Health Management Solutions and Reach⎮Teach⎮Love International (RTLI) partnered up to give the San Antonio refugee community the dental care they direly need.
Well, we are excited to say that the event was a spectacular success. Despite many patients forgetting their appointments and the folks at RTLI having to do door-to-door reminders, the day of went very smoothly and we even had quite a few walk ups. The founder and director of RTLI, Mark S. Pfeiffer reported that we saw patients from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Chad and other countries on the day of the event, with translations from "Arabic, Dari, Pashto, French, and perhaps a few others, into English. It was a multi-cultural and multi-lingual day!"
This is the second year RTLI has sponsored and organized this event, and the second year in a row went so much smoother, the chairs were full for most of the day and we were able to see 4 more patients than last year, for a total of 28. The event even made it into the Cedar Park Community Impact!
We'd like to thank RTLI for running this show and setting up our volunteer teams for success. We look forward to next year and continuing to make a difference and bridge the gap.
